Today I’m joined by activist Joe Gonzalez. Joe is one of the founders of The Project Solution which is a non-profit organisation that gives people an opportunity to donate to community infrastructure projects around the world. Joe has spent his professional career in a multitude of fields, including work in television, film, and theatre. Joe has been a tireless volunteer his whole life and I was very interested in chatting with him about his organisation and also in discussing the similarities of non-profit models in the US and Europe. So I hope you are sitting comfortably and happy to stay with us.
Our chat began with Joe explaining how his organisation was created and why it’s different to the many non-profit organisations around the world (01:57), what path Joe took that led him to his involvement in The Project Solution (05:07), and the challenges working on community projects around the world. We then started to talk about the work involved in setting up and running a non-profit in the US (12:22), before comparing charities and non-profits in the US and Ireland (17:00), explaining how The Project Solution networks with local communities and service providers, as well as discussing the future of the African continent (34:20). Towards the end of our chat, I asked Joe what he was listening to and watching at the moment (44:00).
